Term	Description
Abundant Love	The concept that people can have romantic love for more than one person at a time; often compared to how a parent can love two or more children.
Ad Hoc Union	When two people are joined in a partnership or marriage-like relationship that is not planned or anticipated, such as when two people are stranded together.
Alternative Lifestyle	A method of living one's life that is contrary to social norms.
Ardor	Devotion to another that is especially intense.
Availability Index	Contrasting the number of women looking for a male partner in relation to the number of men seeking a female partner, including specific criteria as to age range and geographic location.
Beloved Stranger	A partner with a differing faith than one's own.
Besotted	Being/acting the fool because of the love felt for another.
Casanova	A male who seeks out the company of women through romantic or amorous reasons, and has high levels of popularity and success in his attempts.
Daliance	An inconsequential affair or relationship of short duration
Emotional Infidelity	Falling in love with another person while in a committed relationship with another, and where there is no physical contact.
Grand Gesture	An act that is uncharacteristically demonstrative or spectacular, made in order to prove one's love or win back a lover's affections.
Heart Breaker	An individual that many people find physically attractive and therefore would be assumed to break hearts because of his or her appealing nature.
Heartthrob	Someone who by their nature incites passion or romantic feelings in others.
Hen Peck	A woman who nags her partner or husband.
High Maintenance	With regards to a specific relationship, a connection that requires a higher than average amount of time or energy investment. With regards to a person within a relationship, high maintenance can refer to several things: having higher than normal expectations of a person in a relationship, the requirement one has for high amounts of affection and reassurance within relationship, or being unusually intense in a relationship with regards to needs and/or demands and therefore being difficult or challenging.
Hook Up	Dating someone on a regular basis.
Jilt	Someone who has been discarded from a relationship.
Kavorka	As coined by the television show "Seinfeld" (Season 5, Episode 72), a man who has unusual animal magnetism with women, and who isn't terribly polished with his courtship rituals.
Keeper	A person that one would like to mate with that is already a part of their lives in a potentially long-term fashion.
Kiss and Tell	Sharing the information that one has been intimate with another, especially if this information is something that one wants to keep a secret. "I don't kiss and tell" is often used to share that one has had an intimate or sexual encounter with another, but is unwilling to share the details of the incident.
Law of Attraction	When two people who are attracted to each other tend to be in close physical proximity to one another.
Lothario	A heterosexual male womanizer; a man that has short term sexual relationships with a number of women.
Lovesick	The pain and emotional turmoil felt when someone falls in love with another but the feelings are not reciprocated.

Odd Couple	Two people who live together or are intertwined romantically that are grossly different from each other and would not normally get along under other circumstances. For instance, one person in the couple could be an introvert and the other an extrovert, although there are normally several distinct differences between the two partners to have the term "odd couple" used to describe a specific relationship.
Old Flame	A person with which one had a former relationship or partnership with.
One-Sided Relationship	A relationship where one person is keeping the partnership together, such as providing all of the affection or making all of the plans. Where the contributions to the relationship on behalf of both people involved is not equal. Could also mean that one person has feelings for another that are not reciprocated.
Online Affair	A relationship that either was generated or continues solely through the Internet as a medium for meeting and/or communication. May also mean the relationship is illicit, although not in all circumstances.
Open Relationship	A relationship where both partners hide nothing from each other, including their past relationships and sexual experiences.
Pair Bonding	The attachment two people have to one another when in a romantic relationship.
Pansexual	Someone who is attracted to people regardless of their gender, sex or sexual orientation.
Paramour	A lover that is married or otherwise attached to someone else.
Umfriend	Describes a relationship where either the two people involved haven't made their coupling known to the general public, or who haven't discussed the status of their relationship. Someone with whom you have sex with, and where the relationship is lacking in defined limits or labels.
Valentino	A man who resembles Italian seducer Rodolpho Gugliemi di Valentina d'Antonguolla (1895-1926), more popularly known as Rudolf Valentino.
Vamp	As a noun: a female seductress; usually referring to a woman who is able and willing to seduce more than one or many men at once. As a verb (to vamp): the act of using one's seductive talents to exploit someone non-sexually.
Virtual Affair	A romantic interaction that occurs online. Oftentimes this term is used to describe something illicit, although it is not used in this way exclusively.
Waist to Hip Ratio	The difference between the waist and hip measurements in a woman, as shown by a percentage. Theory has it that 70% (or 0.7) is 'ideal' for child bearing and attractiveness to the opposite sex, although some proponents feel this ratio is a Western ideal and not a view shared globally.
Yoked	To marry or mate.
Zelophobia	The fear of jealousy.
Zsa Zsa Zu	To feel butterflies in your stomach for someone because of the attraction felt towards that person.
